Mr. Barrett,

I was just poking through your site and read some of the short fiction you have posted. While I enjoyed the stories, I have to say that they left me very intrigued... mainly as to what the ruckus was about. I'll admit I didn't read everything, so maybe I missed something truly horrific or twisted. But then again, I suppose that anyone who would try to get someone fired for his non-work activity is a fairly narrow-minded person, and not likely to be sitting around reading, oh, say William S Burroughs in his spare time. More like Reader's Digest.

But anyway, what I really wanted to ask was this: what's a long john?

That is, in reference to The Donut King. Maybe it's a regional thing. I just don't think I've heard that name in reference to a pastry product before, and I was kind of curious.

Best of luck with the new job and future writing.

Jen Petrunis

[A long john is a long cream-filled doughnut. Usually custard or Holland cream. It has other names but they escape me at the moment.]
