Hi there

I saw Koyaanasqatsi about a month ago and I am absolutely amazed at the effect it has had upon. I feel it is the most revolutionary movie I have ever experienced. I am lucky in that I got to see this movie after many years of hearin about it. I saw excerpts of it on various tv shows and even tried desperately to obtain a copy in Ottawa but could not. When I did see the movie I was tranfixed. It really has raised my awareness of film and the power that film has to change people's lives. I cannot buy a copy in Ottawa so I have luckily found a friend who can copy both Koyaanasqatsi and Powa....(which I have not yet seen).

In the meantime this same friend treated me to a copy of Baraka, which is I feel a rather sophisticated child of the K movie. It is interesting to note that the movie Kundun, which Philip Glass did the music for, actually had some Koyaanasqatsi-like moments to it. Really neat!

Anyhow I have talked my friends' ears off about the effect this movie has had on me. I feel profoundly affected by viewing these movies although I do not know where it lead me.

Anyhow I enjoyed reading your comments. Can you tell me if there is a third movie in the works and how I can write to Godfrey Reggio?

Thanks,
Joyce MacPhee, Ottawa, Ont. Canada

Cameron,

Hi, my name's Chris Mattson and I just read your thoughts on Koyannisqatsi and Powaqaatsi on your home page. I just wanted to say a big Marv Albert "Yes!" to you for that review. I *love* those movies and am as hopelessly addicted to them as you are. I've seen them several times over the past couple of years and they get better every time you see them, especially when you're with someone who's seeing them for the first time. Your review was dead-on and practically mirrors what I've been telling people about it (and arguing with). When you said that they should be shown in schools I thought, Whoa! This dude's in my brain!

Anyway, I heard from a friend that the third installment is in production now and should be released around 2000. I just want to see one of these movies in a big theater.

Later,

--Chris M.

Hi, I reached your site while searching infos about Koyaanisqatsi. I've seen the movie and I'm looking for a tape. Do you have any clues where I can find Koyaanisqatsi and the second film (Powaaqatsi) ? And are you located in USA, UK or somewhere in Europe ?

By the way, if you're interested in the music of Philip Glass.

Mr. Barrett,

I read your review of Koyaaniqatsi and must say I agree with what you say. I, however have not seen the film as recently as you. It has probably been more than 10 years since I LAST saw the movie. (which is quite a long time when one has only just celebrated their 19th birthday). My father was the first one to find the movie, and insisted on showing it to everyone he knew. I am interested in where you found the film, and if you know where I might be able to purchase a copy.

Thank You,

Bill McLaughlin
