Lucas by Cameron Barrett Lucas opened his eyes and blinked. The alarm had awakened him and he instinctively tried to reach over and turn it off but he found he couldn't move his arms. His whole body for that matter, not even his head. At least he still had his sight. Lucas surveyed the situation. To his immediate right was the alarm buzzing monotonously. He pivoted his eyes to the left and saw Cindy Crawford in a tight yellow swimsuit; the well-oiled body gleamed and the nipples made two distinct bumps in the yellow fabric. Above him was a lowered ceiling with white panels. A quick study found that there were thirty-three and a half of them. He looked down and saw that the blankets stopped at his belly button. He could see the elastic band of his Star Trek boxers and wondered if they were clean. Beyond his feet was the rest of his room, or what was left of it. From his position he should have been able to see the floor with its stray clothes and misplaced necessities. But it was gone; there was only a black void where his floor had been. It was a good thing he couldn't move because if he could he certainly wasn't going anywhere. The bed and the rest of the furniture made a slight rocking motion as if his whole room was drifting through space. His thoughts were interrupted by an abrupt ending of his alarm only to be replaced by the hissing of the television he left on to help him sleep. He rotated his eyes towards the TV and was mesmerized by the black and white patterns the off-the-air channel transmitted. His eyes broke free from the lure of the TV and his clock told him it was 5:12 a.m. He looked out at the endless void that swallowed the floor of his room and wondered where he was. It's a dream he told himself and looked back at the TV. He felt his mind go blank and his eyes slowly shut. A moment later he was awakened by the buzzing of his alarm. He blinked and tried to move his arms. He could feel a slight rocking of his bed and body. The TV hissed across the bed at Cindy and Lucas felt himself drift off to sleep once more. Soon, the alarm went off...
